Watching birds started as a little research project for my manuscript, but quickly turned into a new hobby. It gave me a better reason to go outside and to embed myself into nature. As soon as I started flipping through my field guides, identifying bird after bird and understanding their lifestyles, their calls, their environments, I gained a deeper appreciation for the birds in my area. Now, I have turned my backyard oasis into a little birding paradise. I don’t know how I spent twenty years in my hometown without knowing the amazing bird watching opportunities it held. I’ll ignore the irony that I’m allergic to them. Keep scrolling for more illustrations and sketches!
